Tokaanu marae is located in Tokaanu, 3 km northwest of Tūrangi on Puanga Street. The primary hapū is Ngāti Kurauia with whakapapa links to various hapū including across Ngāti Tūwharetoa including (but not limited to) Ngāti Waewae and Ngāti Ohomairangi.
The wharepuni is called Pūhaorangi and the wharekai is Kurauia. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Te Arawa, the maunga Kakaramea, and the awa Tokaanu.
