Hinerupe marae is located in Te Araroa in the East Cape, on Paikea Street. Its principal hapū are Te Whānau a Hinerupe of Ngāti Porou iwi.
The wharenui is also called Hinerupe. The marae connects ancestrally to Horouta waka, the maunga Whetumatarau and the awa Awatere.
