Whakaaratamaiti marae is located just 2.5 km to the south of Putāruru town centre. The primary hapū of the marae are Ngāti Ahuru and Ngāti Mahana of Ngāti Raukawa.
The whare is named Korōria. The marae connects ancestrally to the Tainui waka, the awa Orakanui and Waikato and the maunga Hautere and Maungatautari.
