Tamakahu marae is located in Nūhaka. Its principal hapū is Rakaipaaka of Ngāti Kahungunu iwi.
The wharenui is also called Tamakahu. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu, the maunga Moumoukai, and the awa Nūhaka and Waitirohia.
