Hakatere

Hakatere marae can be found just outside of Ashburton on the Canterbury Plains. It belongs to Ngāi Tahu. 

The whare tūpuna, Te Hāpai Ō, was opened in February 2009. The marae ancestrally connects to the waka Takitimu, the awa Hakatere and the maunga Aoraki.
