Tapairu marae is located south of Waipawa just off Tapairu Road. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Parakiore and Ngāti Mārau of the iwi Ngāti Kahungunu.
The whare are Te Whaea o te Katoa and Te Rangatahi. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu, the maunga Ruahine and the awa Waipawa.
