Kahungunu marae, also known as Te Tahinga, is located in Nūhaka. Its principal hapū is Rakaipaaka of Ngāti Kahungungu iwi.
The wharenui is also called Kahungunu. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu and the awa Nūhaka.
