Hamuera marae, also known as Moteo, is located near Puketapu. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Hinepare and Ngāti Māhu, of Ngāti Kahungunu iwi.
The wharenui is called Rangimarie. Hamuera connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu, the maunga Kahurānaki and the awa Tutaekuri.
